During the war everything seemed to be rationed or in short supply: gasoline, fuel oil, rubber, bobby pins, zippers, tin foil, shoes, whiskey, chewing gum, butter, coffee, nylongs, ketchup, sugar, canned goods, cigarettes and the matches needed to light them.
